Egypt in the Holy Bible

Egypt was a refuge to many people including Abraham , Jacob , Joseph and Jeremiah in the Old Testament. In the New Testament , the Holy Family fled to Egypt to seek refuge and escape from King Herod, fulfilling the prophecy of Hosea :

" Out of Egypt I called My Son "

( Hosea 11:1 )

The Coptic Church celebrates the Feast of the entry of the Holy Family into Egypt on the 24th of Bashans / 1st of June.
